Self-Propelled Powerhouse to Annihilate Stumps up to 3 feet Wide

Unlike the heavy, cumbersome grinders commonly available, the DR PRO XLSP Stump Grinder is self-propelled, making moving from one stump to another effortless—even over rough terrain. Constructed of lightweight 12-gauge steel with independent wheel drives, cornering is smooth and easy.

With the power of a world-class DR engine with 11.7 HP (19.6 ft-lbs gross torque*) the PRO XLSP Stump Grinder has the power to remove stumps up to 3 feet wide. The 3-sided tungsten carbide-tipped teeth power through the toughest wood and last 3x longer than the competition. A protective shroud covers the grinding teeth during transport to prevent accidental damage. It's the quickest and easiest way to remove troublesome stumps from your property!

Eliminate hazardous stumps anywhere on your property to expand lawn areas, open up fields and meadows, or blaze new trails.

FEATURES
FEATURES

Simple Operation

Position the DR Stump Grinder over the stump, engage one of the wheel brakes to lock a single wheel in place before engaging the cutting head and pivoting over the stump from side to side, shaving off an inch or so of material with each pass. Reposition the machine as needed to continue removing material until the entire stump is reduced to a pile of wood chips.

Self-Propelled for Easy Transport

Our dual shaft transmission, with built in differential, lugged, high-flotation tires and DR’s lightweight design makes for smooth, easy, self-propelled transport between job sites. Large size tires (12.5" x 4") give the machine full support and help to keep the body of the machine elevated over wood chips during operation.

Protective Shroud

While in transport mode, the shroud prevents the spinning teeth from running aground. Once you arrive at your destination and disengage the drive, it's easy to expose the teeth (no tools required).

Mining-grade teeth last 3x longer

The cutter head features 8, 3-sided Greenteethâ mining-grade tungsten carbide tipped steel teeth. 10 times harder than steel, tungsten carbide is often used for drilling through the toughest materials, including bedrock and each tooth can be rotated twice for added longevity.

Powerful Engine

Our DR OHV engine (389cc) with electric start puts 11.7 HP (19.6 ft-lbs gross torque*) at your fingertips. Cutting teeth spin at 2,800 rpm – taking 372 “bites” per second and powering through the toughest hardwood stumps up to 3 feet in diameter.

Simple hand controls

Control the wheel brakes and engine throttle right from the handlebars. Lock one wheel in place to easily pivot the machine back and forth as you grind away any stump. Unlock and reposition as needed, right from your working position.

    I'd buy it again

I done 30 stumps so far, The engine is running like it should. Maybe it just needed some wear in time. I'm going to replace the dead man lever with a push off / twist on switch. I am liking it more the more I use it. I did buy a tow strap to pull it out with my ATV if it gets stuck on a hill in soft dirt. I did buy and use a tow bar. Please ignore my first review this is a nice machine.

    Poor Drive System

I have bought other DR Power products through the years, however I can not recommend the self propelled model of the stump grinder. It is very weak and will not pull itself up a hill. The first transmission was replaced and the second is just as bad. Get the regular stump grinder and pull it with a lawn tractor.

It would have been nice if cable’s had been done at factory !

Still having problems with the cables . Can’t get control for motor throttle right . And the brake control fell off ! Other than that it’s ok !!!!

    needs more work

So far when its working does a fine job,but the action is so violent that im contantly replacing bolts shaken loose.ive had the bottom pan off 3 or 4 times already. chips stuck in the drive chains and wheels locked up. the clips on the ignition switch vibrated off and now i just jumper accross to start it. the belt idler has come off of its proper position and ive had to fix that 3 times now. just things i shouldnt have to deal with on a brand new machine.

Q.If you shouldn't tow the self propelled model why do you include a tow bar kit?

A.Hello Walter, thank you for your interest in the DR Self-Propelled Stump Grinder. The mount you're seeing isn't for the tow bar, it is to hold a protective shroud that covers the grinding teeth, and the ground, while you're moving the unit from place to place. When you are ready to use it, you take the protective shroud off, exposing the teeth. The Self-Propelled Stump Grinder is not designed to be towed. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
