Safe Burning of Tumbleweeds
I am pleased with this burn cage. The Max size is best for tumbleweeds since they can be quite large. I use a tamper to smash them allowing me to fill up to the top before burning. The safety compared to open burning has my neighbors giving me thumbs up as they pass by.
Great product
Great product. Burns completely and quickly because it gets plenty of air. Well built and easy assembly. Cost is a little higher but quality makes up for it. Very satisfied with the product.
DR Burncage - not the big one
It does burn completely but can’t get feet on the corners to keep it from blowing over.
Beats a barrel any day of the week!
I got the Max - the HUGE one. Perfect for what I'm doing. I typically burned through steel barrels every 2-3 years - they would just rust away to nothing and eventually collapse on themselves. That isn't going to happen with stainless! Plenty of air holes in this one, so the fire burns as if there's nothing around it, but there's still enough material to get that barrel / chimney effect that blowtorches everything to ash very quickly. The only thing I don't like is the lid / ash cover. At least for me, and the Max, it's too big / heavy to be messing around with when it's red hot. The 2 lift tools are a great addition ... but in my case, I'm only 5'4" tall with the Max on a set of cinderblocks, so reaching the top isn't so simple, and I don't have extra-long arms to grab both sides of the lid equally, nor the arm strength to put the tools next to each other facing toward me, and lifting that way. It's just too awkward and heavy. I would have to bear-hug this red-hot cage to remove it, add more fuel, then try to get it back in place squarely as flames shoot skyward. Tried it once, and that was the last time I used the lid. It's a great idea in theory, but in practice, it just doesn't work for me. I burned with an open top barrel for years, so not a big deal - it's far enough away from combustibles to not matter. Overall it's well worth the money to have something that's going to last, burn everything completely, and then not have to drive all over the place finding and buying burn barrels, then having to cut the top off, and then cut (or shoot) holes in the side to get some air inside ... which then makes them rust out faster. No more of that! Buy once, cry once, assemble the feet, and it's DONE! Can only upload a pic of my old steel barrel, due to picture size restriction here ...
Excellent Product
I can fill the cage up, put the lid on and do other stuff while it does its work. The ashes left are very minimal. Great tool to have!
