Self-Feeding Action
A large vertically oriented hopper, a precisely-angled heavy-duty chipping knife, and a powerful air channel work together to pull branches into the chipping hopper and blast wood chips out the discharge. Most materials will self-feed, so once you drop a branch in your free to get the next one. No force feeding required!

The big opening for branches (17" x 27") accepts 4.75" branches with little or no trimming of side branches.

Made of high-carbon/high-chromium forged alloy tool steel, our knives hold an edge longer than those on "bargain" chippers.. Still, as with any cutting tool, keeping a sharp edge is important for maintaining peak performance. We recommend keeping an extra on hand so you can minimize downtime.

Disappointments, did not live up to the 'mystique' of DR Power Equipment
Nothing to rave about, plenty to be disappointed in - - Not 3-pt quick hitch compatible (yes, please ready the Q&A - I missed that; disappointing and, in my mind, unacceptable that a piece of equipment would not be quick-hitch compatible. It barely fits my compact/Kubota LX 3310 3 pt system); - lack of adjustable legs; added 4" blocks under to better align the PTO shaft; - Fly wheel bearing inside the shroud not maintainable without removing the belt shroud; no easy access. In fact, a lot of annoying disassembly to get at maintenance work; - had to do a lot of bolt tightening through out the machine when received. nearly everything was loose; including locking nuts on all bearing keepers; - Not self loading. Requires downward pressure to force feed. yes, this is with correctly adjusted cutter bracket and what was once a sharp cutter; - Biggest disappointment - less than 12 hours of use, and the cutter is absolutely dull (see pictures); that's on fresh-cut softwoods (fir, ponderosa pine), nearly all well under the 4 3/4" diameter limit. Live in Rural MT, have no access to a machine shop to sharpen, so guess what I get to do..... Buy a new one! I'll be curious to see how blade #2 lasts, but i'm not hopefull. @ $90-100 depending upon shipping, that's not a good return on investment. Will give new cutters another shot. if they dull out as quickly as the original, it'll be time to talk about that '6 month try it out' policy for DR.
Great chipper
Great chipper this thing will chip anything you put in it . It is noisy when chipping limbs but it does a great job .
Clears 4 Cottonwood, kinda
Jammed up the discharge first time I used it, had to disassemble and remove chips by hand. I thought it toasted the belt, but so far it is still working. Little worried that could be a fire hazard in late summer. Fed it less and have not had that reoccur. Cannot use a quick hitch due to spacing of lower arm pins/bracket.
Works well, 3pt Top link connection could use a redesign.
Chipper works well, has chipped everything I've thrown at it from beech to pine. My only dislike it where the top link attaches on the chipper, it prevents the chipper from being fully raised because it binds with the cover of the chipping flywheel. If the top link attach point was redesigned it would be perfect.
Q.Does this come with any kind of discharge chute or do chips just come out of the opening a chute attaches to?

Q.Is this chipper quick-hitch compatible?
A. The tractor requirements for the Three Point Hitch Rapid Feed Chipper are as follows: Must be a Category 1.. Must have a HP between 19 and 65. The 2 outside pins and top pin must be 7/8" in diameter.

Q.Does the tph450 work as a shredder also?
