It’s adequate for carrying ballast
So, this is a metal box made to carry bricks, rocks, whatever you want for ballast. It’s made in the USA then drop shipped. I would not call this of the highest quality but I think it will be fine to get the job done. It’s not like a piece of furniture going in my house. The weep holes look like they just took a grinder and removed the lower corners of the box exposing raw metal. The paint was clearly wet when they wrapped it with shipping protection so there is exposed bare metal. It did fit great onto my generic (Rural King) quick hitch without any mods. I filled it with broken chunks of granite and so far it is holding up fine.
Well worth the price!
Ive built my own balast boxes in the past.. garbage cans full of concrete etc. Would have LOVE to have found this first, would have saved me time and money.. Love the Tool holders too! in the winter I keep shovel and ice chopper and sand for balast. Summer, I imagine Rakes, hoes and "fertilizer" Definitely worth the price!
Great addition to any compact tractor!
I wanted more ballast for better winter traction and to counterbalance heavy loads of rocks or large logs on the front end loader of my Kubota L3200. We have filled rear tires but that wasn't enough. Purchased this unit because it seemed ruggedly made at 125 lbs, the rings are a great help to hold long-handled tools, and I could use the tow hitch to pull our DR Power K35 wood splitter. This product more than met my expectations for better traction and more stability when handling heavy loads. Filled it with sand and put a plastic bag on top so I have more room for tool hauling, carrying a gas can for the splitter or chain saw, etc. Splitter is easy to hook up for towing. Highly recommended!

Q.Will this box work with a type 2 3-point hitch that would be more likely on a smaller tractor?
